Историческая справка

TITUS

(1/07/69-13/09/81)

Restoration coinage of Titus

Titus proceeded with a major issue of restitution for the Julio-Claudian family around 80, but only for the bronze coinage. Nero is absent from this series, perhaps because of the "damnatio memoriæ" to which he was subjected after his death. On the other hand, Galba, who does not belong directly to the Julio-Claudian family, although very close to Livia, wife of Augustus, is associated with it. In fact, Titus, by restoring the memory of the Julio-Claudian family and largely associating his father, Vespasian, after his death, legitimizes the new Flavian dynasty of which he is the second representative..
