Sur ce type, la massue n’est plus posée devant la tête , mais couchée sous la tête de Trajan. Rubans de type 3 Le portrait de Melqart est, sur ces tétradrachmes, plus ou moins hellénisé. Sur notre exemplaire il est particulièrement massif et brutal, probablement au plus proche de la représentation cultuelle du héros, donnant une image de force physique très impressionnante, particulièrement par le cou massif de lutteur. Cet exmeplaire est illustré dans l’ouvrage de Richard McAlee, p, 203.

Trajan was born on September 18, 53 in Italica, near Seville in Spain, like his pupil Hadrian. He belongs to a family of settlers settled in Spain. After a brilliant military career under the Flavians, he was consul in 91 and legate of Germania Superior when he was adopted by Nerva in 97 to succeed him.
