Les habitants d’Aurigny sont évacués en 1940. Les troupes d’occupation ne se rendront que le 16 mai 1945 soit huit jours après la capitulation de l’Allemagne nazie. Les habitants peuvent alors réoccuper leur île.
The inhabitants of Alderney were evacuated in 1940. The occupying troops did not surrender until May 16, 1945, eight days after the surrender of Nazi Germany. The inhabitants were then able to reoccupy their island.
