Историческая справка

BITHYNIA - BITHYNIAN KINGDOM - NICOMEDES III EUERGETES

(128-95 BC)

Nicomedes III is the son of Nicomedes II Epiphanes (149-128 BC). He succeeded his father in 128 BC. In 115, in agreement with Mithridates VI of Pontus, he annexed part of the Paphlagonia. Under the same conditions, after the assassination of Ariarathes VI in 116 BC, he married Laodike, sister of Mithridates of Pontus and took his son-in-law under his protection. Mithridates, drove out Nicomedes III and restored Ariarathes VII to the throne of Cappadocia before having him assassinated. Bithynia under the reign of Nicomedes III becomes a client kingdom of Rome. Finally Nicomedes III dies, probably poisoned.
