Pour ce type, il existe deux modules très différents de 22 et de 13 millimètres environ avec un poids de 8 grammes pour le premier et de 2 grammes pour le second. Droit et revers se rapportent aux cultes de la Santé et d’Asklépios, dieu de la Médecine, liés tout deux à Apollon, le dieu principal de Rhégium.

BRUTTIUM - RHEGIUM
(203-89 BC)
Rhegium (Rhegion), the last city of the Italian boot on the continent, located on the Strait of Messina opposite Sicily, was founded around 720 BC by Chalcidian settlers. The city was destroyed in 387 BC by Dionysius of Syracuse. It was nevertheless rebuilt by Dionysius the Younger around 356-350 BC. The Romans captured the city in 271 BC, but were quickly expelled. After 203 BC and the end of the Second Punic War, Rhegium fell definitively under Roman domination..
