Médaille attribuée en 1848 à Antoine, Joseph Durand-Gauthier en tant que député du Loir-et-Cher. Il naquit le 29 mai 1795 à Romorantin (Loir-et-Cher) et décéda à Paris le 11 juillet 1859. Il était avocat au barreau de Paris. Il fut élu député du Loir-et-Cher sous le IVe législature de la Monarchie de juillet (4 novembre 1837-2 février 1839), puis fut réélu sous les Ve, VIe et VIIe législature (2 mars 1839-24 février 1848). Candidat à l’Assemblée nationale constituante, il fut réélu député et y siégea du 23 avril 1848 au 26 mai 1849. Cette médaille passe lui fut remise à l’occasion de ce mandat. Il est intéressant de noter que le nom de sa ville natale a été gravé après son nom de manière à éviter toute confusion avec le député du Calvados François Durand.

He was a lawyer at the Paris bar. He was elected deputy of Loir-et-Cher during the 4th legislature of the July Monarchy (November 4, 1837-February 2, 1839), and was then re-elected during the 5th, 6th, and 7th legislatures (March 2, 1839-February 24, 1848). A candidate for the National Constituent Assembly, he was re-elected deputy and sat there from April 23, 1848 to May 26, 1849. This medal was awarded to him on the occasion of this mandate. It is interesting to note that the name of his hometown was engraved after his name so as to avoid any confusion with the Calvados MP François Durand
