Ptolémée subtilisa le corps et le ramena à Alexandrie en attendant la construction de son cénotaphe (tombeau), le Phare d’Alexandrie, achevé par Ptoléme II. C’est la première fois que nous proposons ce type à la vente qui semble beaucoup plus rare que ne le laissent supposer les ouvrages généraux.
On the obverse, it is indeed the deified head of Alexander the Great, deified as Zus-Ammon. Ptolemy stole the body and brought it back to Alexandria while awaiting the construction of his cenotaph (tomb), the Pharos of Alexandria, completed by Ptolemy II.
