Comme celles de son frère Herennius Etruscus et contrairement à celles de son père et de sa mère, les frappes d’Hostilien ne présentent pas deux séries bien distinctes.
Elles sont excessivement rares, on connaît malgré tout un revers avec l’aigle à gauche, tête et queue à droite, un point entre les pattes, dont nous avons vu qu’il appartient à la fin des frappes, et sont toutes en buste vu de trois-quarts en avant, peut-être pour les distinguer de celles de son frère. Toutes les officines semblent représentées.
Elles n’ont aucun rapport avec celles de Trébonien Galle (le graveur de l’aigle de revers est différent) et il est exclu que Trébonien ait fait frapper au nom d’Hostilien.
On note que les sigma sont gravés en C.
Dans la base TSP maintenue par Michel Prieur, onze exemplaires sont maintenant répertoriés pour ce type dont en musées Doura/Yale, Paris, Glasgow, ANS, Berlin et Gaziantep.
Like those of his brother Herennius Etruscus and unlike those of his father and mother, Hostilian's strikes do not present two distinct series. They are extremely rare, despite everything we know of a reverse with the eagle on the left, head and tail on the right, a point between the legs, which we have seen belongs to the end of the strikes, and are all in bust view from three-quarters forward, perhaps to distinguish them from those of his brother. All the officia seem to be represented. They have no connection with those of Trebonianus Gallus (the engraver of the reverse eagle is different) and it is excluded that Trebonianus had struck in the name of Hostilian. We note that the sigmas are engraved in C.
