Poids léger. Diadème avec pendilia bouletés surmonté d’un casque à plumet. Cavalier galopant à droite sur le bouclier. Légende rétrograde.

MAURICIUS TIBERIUS

Maurice succeeded his father-in-law Tiberius II. After great victories over the Sassanids, he suffered many setbacks in the Balkans and could not prevent the installation of the Slavs and Avars. A military plot overthrew him in 602. He was assassinated while trying to take refuge with Chosroes II.
