Ce type de denier est attribue à Antrain dans les principaux ouvrages de référence. Certains auteurs ont proposé Saint-Denis.
Pendant le règne de Pépin (751-768), un atelier monétaire fonctionnait toujours dans le monastère de Saint-Denis, comme semble en témoigner l'épreuve de coins monétaires retrouvée dans le comblement de la tranchée de l'aqueduc. La plaque de plomb, de forme irrégulière, porte l'empreinte en relief des deux coins qu'un "tailleur" testait avant de passer à la frappe des pièces. Les coins correspondent à un denier qui porte au droit le monogramme RP (rex Pippinus) et, au revers sur trois lignes, la légende AVT/TRA/NO, dont le développement, en antistitio regio Dionusiaco ("par le fait de l'abbatiat royal de Saint-Denis"), reste controversé. Bien que ce type soit l’un des plus courant du monnayage de Pépin, avec 44 exemplaires recensés, notre monnaies n’en est pas moins intéressante, de par la nature de son métal ; il s’agit effectivement un faux d’époque en bronze, qui était probablement argenté lors de sa mise en circulation !.

During the reign of Pepin (751-768), a mint still operated in the monastery of Saint-Denis, as seems to be evidenced by the proof of monetary dies found in the filling of the aqueduct trench.. The irregularly shaped lead plate bears the raised imprint of the two dies that a \\\"cutter\\\" tested before striking the coins.. The dies correspond to a denarius which bears on the obverse the monogram RP (rex Pippinus) and, on the reverse on three lines, the legend AVT/TRA/NO, the development of which, in antistitio regio Dionusiaco (\\\"by the act of the royal abbey of Saint-Denis\\\"), remains controversial..
