Ignacy Jan Paderewski (Kurylówka 1860 - New York 1941) est un pianiste, compositeur, homme politique et diplomate polonais. Musicien talentueux, il interrompt sa carrière pour plaider en faveur d’un Pologne libre et démocratique. En janvier 1919, il devient Premier ministre et ministre des affaires étrangères de la Pologne nouvellement indépendante. Il reprend ensuite sa carrière de musicien. Il tente en vain de sauver la Pologne de l’Allemagne nazie et de l’Union Soviétique. En 1939, il prend la présidence du Conseil national polonais en exil.
