Exemplaire sur un petit flan ovale avec les grènetis visibles à l’usure importante, parfaitement visible et identifiable. Jolie patine verte, légèrement granuleuse

Rubans de type 3. Ce type est directement copié sur un dupondius frappé par Tibère pour le Divin Auguste (RCV. 1790) frappé en 34-37. Ce type a été restitué donc par Titus (RCV. 2583) puis par Domitien (RCV. 2893) et enfin de Nerva (RCV. 3082) avec le même revers. Cependant, la tête d’Auguste est normalement radiée à gauche. Avec la tête radiée à droite, le type semble plus rare. Semble de même coin de droit que l’exemplaire du Cabinet des médailles de la BnF (AF. 4711) n° 286, pl. LXXXVII.

Restoration coinage of Titus
Titus proceeded with a major issue of restitution for the Julio-Claudian family around 80, but only for the bronze coinage. At the head of this series of restitution, we find of course Augustus, the founder of the dynasty, but many other members of the Julia and Claudia people are associated with this coinage: Livia, Agrippa, Tiberius, Drusus senior, Drusus, son of Tiberius , Germanicus, Agrippina mother, and Claudius. Nero is absent from this series, perhaps because of the "damnatio memoriæ" to which he was subjected after his death. On the other hand, Galba, who does not belong directly to the Julio-Claudian family, although very close to Livia, wife of Augustus, is associated with it. In fact, Titus, by restoring the memory of the Julio-Claudian family and largely associating his father, Vespasian, after his death, legitimizes the new Flavian dynasty of which he is the second representative..
