Prédisposé à l'étude de l'art par son père le peintre Ceria, et formé à l'École des beaux-arts dans l'atelier de Lucien Simon, Jacques Despeirre fut un proche de Villon, Gromaire et Dufresne. Le travail de Despierre est prolixe et varié, semblable à un homme de la Renaissance qui maîtrise toutes les techniques. Il pratiqua la gravure et la lithographie pour illustrer les grands auteurs, la fresque et la mosaïque, la tapisserie avec le Mobilier national, le vitrail, la médaille..
Predisposed to the study of art by his father, the painter Ceria, and trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in the studio of Lucien Simon, Jacques Despeirre was close to Villon, Gromaire, and Dufresne. Despierre's work is prolific and varied, similar to a Renaissance man who masters all techniques. He practiced engraving and lithography to illustrate the great authors, frescoes and mosaics, tapestry with the Mobilier National, stained glass, and medals.
