Victorin spent his entire career under the reign of Postumus, of whom he was one of the main civil collaborators. He succeeds Marius, who died just after Postumus. Victorin definitively loses Spain at the beginning of the reign and has to face seditions in Brittany and Gaul. The siege of Autun, a university town in Gaul, lasted seven months.
