Историческая справка

BALEARIC ISLANDS - KINGDOM OF MAJORCA

(1231-1715)

In 1229, as part of the Reconquista, James I of Aragon set out to conquer the Balearic Islands then belonging to the Kingdom of al-Andalus over which the Almohads reigned. In 1232, the conquest of the three islands of the archipelago was completed. The Kingdom of Majorca was established and remained independent until the victory of the troops of Pierre IV of Aragon over the army of King Jacques III of Majorca during the Battle of Llucmajor in 1349. Although attached to the Kingdom of Aragon then in the Kingdom of Spain, the Kingdom of Majorca exists legally until its abolition during the promulgation of the decrees of Nueva Planta in 1716.
