Комментарий

De nombreux détails sont tout à fait anormaux concernant ce jeton. Techniquement il est frappe, remarquablement, sur un flan très fin à la tranche mal finie, très différent des jetons français standards de la période.
Il ne porte pas de poinçon ce qui laisse penser à une fabrication hors de France, probablement en Belgique et donc en exil pendant les événements de la Commune.
Le personnage semble tout à fait exceptionnel et précurseur, intellectuellement de l’Europe fédérale et de l’Union monétaire, président de la conférence sur l’Union latine. C’est ainsi que le présente sa biographie sur wikipedia à http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/F%C3%A9lix_Esquirou_de_Parieu
On nonte l’anglomanie de l’époque avec la mention Esq. , abréviation de Esquire, version anglaise de écuyer, manière d’indiquer la présence de la personne dans la hiérarchie nobiliaire, même si sa noblesse au sens féodal était très discutable.
On notera les armoiries de l’avers qui, avec un écureuil, ne sont pas sans rappeler celles de Nicolas Fouquet : un inspirateur ?.
Many details are quite abnormal concerning this token. Technically it is struck, remarkably, on a very thin flan with a poorly finished edge, very different from the standard French tokens of the period. It does not bear a hallmark which suggests a manufacture outside France, probably in Belgium and therefore in exile during the events of the Commune. The character seems quite exceptional and a precursor, intellectually of federal Europe and the Monetary Union, president of the conference on the Latin Union.
